Creda TR11 poor heat output

Hi everyone

I have a Creda dryer model TR11 bought approx 2002. It runs well and reverses ok with no strange noises

The clothes take a long time to dry far longer than normal (120 mintutes normal load with heat on low or high).I have checked the filter and the ducts and everything is clear all the way to the external vent. The vent opens fully when the dryer is running. I’ve also checked the temperature at the air outlet on the machine with it running empty. On low heat it reads 43oC and on high 53oC. Does anyone know what the actual temperature should be? Both elements of the heater must be working to give the rise in temperature. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The heating elements are quite flimsy and could break down under load. The fault may well be one of the thermostats. There are three stats in this machine, two above the heater, one of which is a ‘one shot’ safety cut out stat that will not reset and the other one to control the temperature. There is also a stat in the internal exhaust duct.

The exhaust stat is rated at 58°C the one above the heater is rated at 106°C.
The safety stat is rated at 150°C.

A physical and electrical examination of the elements would be the first step ( with the mains plug removed of course)

Then possibly changing the heater stats (come as a pair). The exhaust stat may be at fault but is far more difficult to access.

No figures are given for the temperature at the outlet.

Thanks for the reply. I will have a look at the heating elements over the weekend and check continuity etc. Is the exhaust stat a one shot or is it involved in temperature control? I doubted my wife when she insisted that the dryer was not drying as quickly as normal but I’m now convinced there is something wrong. We could have a problem with the washing machine not removing water as efficiently as it once did that is why I was wanted to know what sort of temperature the exhaust air should be. I truth if that stat operates at 58oC a vent temperature of 43/53oC could be normal.

The exhaust stat is self resetting, not a common failure point but I have changed the odd one.
