ParticipantI have a Creda TVR2 dryer which is just over a year old. The rear bearing and drum shaft have worn through, this seems to be quite a common fault over the last year or so. Does anyone know the reason for this to happen, my opinion is that they are using a stretch belt that puts to much tension on the bearing.
I have noticed that Creda have changed the rear bearing material to bronze, is there a different part no for this. 😕Mal

the rear bearing has been the same for years they used to call it polypenco bearing and although it always seemed too small for the job I only changed them through “normal” wear and tear. then, goodbye jockey pulley hello stretch belt and hello bearing failure. if you catch them before shaft meets back panel your in luck otherwise at best its shaft repair kit at worst tub rubs through and its hardly worth doing.
Ah progress!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!wilf :rolls:

Thanks Wilf
This baby has got a bronze bearing not the old polypenco type. I am not sure if the bronze one is standard or a special 😥

Unless it is old stock almost all bearing kits include the later bronze bearing now.

Hi Jim
This is what has happened to my TVR2 it has the bronze bearing 😥 They will have to go back to a jockey pulley system ASAP IMO. 😉October 2, 2006 at 7:48 am #189561Seamy

Got to be the pressure exerted on the bearing by the direct drive belt. Never had as much bother with the ones with belt tensioners..
