ParticipantCreda W220VW Only fills for 20 seconds then starts to wash no more water goes in. It is only just visible in the tub, this is on any cotton programs, on the synthetics it does a deep fill. This is a cold fill only version.
I have changed the presser switch even with the hose to it off it still does not fill any more on cottons.
I have also changed the PCB for another one, still the same.
I have been to an awful lot of these and never noticed this before, am I trying to correct something that is not broken?I took this machine home to fit new bearings. It is when I put it on test that I noticed this possible fault.
Thanks for lookingBernie

one of the water inlet valve coils is open circuit, that appliance has timed fill at the start.

Sounds like you are testing it without a washload? But if you put washing in it, through displacement, it would fill with more water I suspect. 😉

Thanks for the suggestion about the valve but why does it fill ok on synthetics?
Tested with a load and without, still only fills for 20 seconds

I bet you’ve wired up the module incorrectly.
This happens when you get the two lots of two wires on the wrong place on the board. Difficult to explain without seeing colours / connectors of wiring. Selector end of board not dispenser end.

you could be right about the wires in the wrong place on the board. As I belive someone else had been to the machine before me. As when I remove them I allways number them and marke the board also.
Do you know which go where?Thanke for reply

I’m guessing here, Im sure the selector should have the two wires in a connector going to it. Then there are two individual wires, normally one has a black plastic sheath on it. The other wire is bare / no insulation. These wires go to the other side of the selector. Im not sure which way round they go, Im sure the bare wire goes to the right as you look from the front of the machine.
Wiring diagram anyone?December 7, 2011 at 10:06 pm #365046iadom

Looking down on the PCB from the front, its two wires, the plastic insulated one to the right, small two wire connector to the selector switch, wires upwards. Large connector block to X1, five way connector block to X5, two way connector with black/blue to X9, two way connector with black/black to X3, double red connector block to X2 and if fitted, small four way connector to X4.
All from memory and with my eyes closed. 🙂
EDIT Ignore this post, its the result of intoxication. 😳

I have a board from this model on my lap as I am typing this.
All the same as the post above but on this one I have the 6 way plug to x5 then the black and blue to x11 then the 2 black wires to x9December 7, 2011 at 10:30 pm #365048iadom

That will teach me not to post when I have had a drink. :clown:
It is six way block to X5, blue/black to X 11 and black/black to X9.
The couple of pints of Tuborg, red wine and a glass of Strega have kicked in. 😀In my defence the numbers I gave are correct for most WMA machines, the sequence from right to left of the six way, then blue/black then black/black is the same on all models unless it is the very early one with a single connector for all of these or some that have a double blue in place of the black/blue.
TBH, I have done that many I don’t make a note of the numbers, I just dish the wires and refit on auto pilot.
PM me your e-mail address and I will send you some info.
Jim.

Thanks Jim for email.
Have checked all connections and they are as they should be.
I have now put the PCB that was on the machine back, tightened all connection and it is now working correctly so must have been a bad connection I guess.
Thanks to all of you for your help.

Excellent news. I only knew the answer bacause I wired one up incorrectly after a bearing change and it did the same.
😉
(Dont tell my wife I admitted to making a mistake.)

Errrrr :hmm:
Quick rewind here…… Was it wired incorrectly or not wired incorrectly? Tim getting mixed up with Jim maybe? :hmm:
