Befor Christmas I had a call from Masterpart to say that my credit card hadn’t been authorised to pay the previous months statement. It came as a surprise to me because I hadn’t tried to pay on the card ,I always pay by cheque. The girl in the office was adamant I had tried to pay this way until it turned out it was a card I hadn’t used for about four years, and that they’d just decided that that was the way I was paying that month.
Same thing has happened again with EMW. I had a cheque returned saying paid by card. When I questioned them on this they had my card details and had just used them when I sent in a part for testing. If there had been a phone call fine, but no, it was just taken.
The card in question was a personal card and that I’d not given authorisation to use it for anything else.

Are they allowed to do this, is it legal, because it certainly shouldn’t be. I have an ex business partner who has probably used his card in the past to order spares etc, what happens if they decide in their wisdom to use his card. I’d be lynched or worse accused of theft!!!!!!!

    Re: Credit card worry

It’s surprising after four years that the expiry date was still OK 😯

As far as I am aware, any transactions must be informed before processing the card unless a written agreement is in place with you authorising undisclosed ammounts.

Your CC company will be able to confirm.

Thats why it wasn’t authorised , Dave.

There’s definately no written agreement with either of them
