Just wanted to gather advice on ways of dealing with crud. Had a quick search on the topic ‘crud’ but couldn’t find a definitive thread.
We service a lot of tenanted flats and often find good machines in a poor state with new tenants complaining of odour and sometimes marks on laundry from crud. We dispense the usual advice on maintenance, service washes, leaving the doors open, dosing properly etc. but typically it’s too late as the outer drum is already caked in it and it doesn’t want to come off with your average chemical cleaner.
It’s a shame to deem the machine beyond economcial repair but sometimes the tubs are too expensive or obsolete.
Does anyone have a good reliable method for dealing with this? I’ve often thought taking out a lifter and putting some sort of brush contraption might be the means of physically getting in there and dislodging the stuff.
Any advice or experience welcome.
An old colleague once described pouring a few litres of strong acid into the tub. But still didn’t get anywhere!
