not much else it can be
if it was motor fault either cap or winding would not rotate at all
could be broken wire from time but this is a long shot
as with most tumble dryers they switch the live from one side of the cap to the other so not much can go wrong

some of these have a second timer hidden down by the motor (drum out job!) that is just for the purpose of reversing. Dont know about this model as away from desk today.

It’s the capacitor! I have been a Hotpoint/Creda Engineer for 15 years and I have seen this fool many engineers. It only happens with a large load when the machine is hot. Run it without the filter in place so that you can see the drum rotating. It sometimes only happens after 10 minutes and often trips the over temp stat.
The motor has a very low starting torque when the capacitor first begins to fail. The problem exists when the (reversing) timer contacts switch over.
The sequence is approx 3 minutes in forward mode (I think clockwise), one second off, 20 seconds reverse tumble with no heat, one second off, then 3 minutes forward with heat. The problem is the very short off period at the end of the reverse tumble. When the capacitor fails there is no time for the motor to stop during the off period and the drum carries on turning in the reverse mode with the heater on. Because the fan can only blow in one direction, the heater overheats and the TOC tripsJuly 24, 2005 at 11:02 pm #140411iadom

Are you sure about that model No: could it be a 37662 ?? This model has two capacitors.
Cancel that, I was looking at a Creda. The Crusader 37667 does have the small reversing timer in the base. Never had one fail though.
Timer No: 1701133 list £26.88 + vat. -
