Model number please 😀
Possibly the belt, motor or start capacitor are the starting points
Power off before going in :zap:

OK
excuse my ignorance but am I looking for the belt to be broken or loose/slipping maybe?
…and where will I find the capacitor and how will i know its faulty other than replacing it?

The belt will have snapped normally.
The capacitor may be visibly damaged but if you’re unsure then it may be time to call in an engineer to be honest, check repairs@ on the main menu for one in your area 😀

tbh, i’m hoping to avoid that course of action unless absolutely necessary

In order to establish if the belt is broken you only need to switch the machine on. If the motor is running normally and the heater is heating, but the drum isn’t turning, the belt is broken.
To replace said belt the machine has to be dismantled, to access any of the functional parts, likewise it has to come to bits to rectify 🙁

we stripped the machine (3000 screws 🙁 ) to find everything seemingly ok
as we needed the machine asap we called in the man that ‘knows’.
He put his hand in the drum, pushed it round, turned on the machine, bingo
, apparently a microswitch had some fluff in it.
I have to say, for £25 both a good and a bad result.
Good, we have our machine working again and £25 aint as bad as it could have been
Bad, thats the sort of thing I was hoping to find out for a diy job
Life is just a B*tch sometimes 😆
