First thanks for access to the site for information. We live in area where regularly have power cuts so bought a 2.8kW generator. I will connect this to my central heating and hot water pumps which has a small current draw. Also want to use it to power either of our fridge freezers – an upright Hoover fridge freezer and an American style Maytag. Does anyone have a rough idea what the current drain will be for either . I understand at 13A I can use just under 3000 w total. So hoping I can use generator with 13 A 3 way splitter socket to run
    central heating
one of the two fridge freezers and
a table lamp to make live good .

    Will that work please

Also if I unplug fridge freezer could I use a 900w microwave 🙂

    Many thanks

    Paul

    Re: current draw

If you look at the rating plates they should give you the info you need, usually.

But that Maytag will pull a fair bit when it goes into a defrost cycle I expect.

If there’s electronic involved though all bets are off as using a generator (as I know from bitter experience) can wreak havoc with them if it’s not a really, really good one and they cost megabucks I’m told.

If the appliances detect an out of range supply they will shut down, if they don’t blow something.

    K.
