I have to look at a Hoover AFL where a black dye has been used in the past and they are now getting dye marks on clothes.

The customer assures me they kept to the dye makers instructions for after-treatment.

She also says her daughter in law has had a similar experience and a new door seal was the answer.

Has anyone any advice or suggestions as to how deal with this?

Apart from thorougly cleaning the door seal, a couple of 90 degree ‘service washes’ may be the best answer? 😉

Don’t dye stuff in the washer might be good advice too! Always seemed a strange idea to me dying clothes black and then washing your nets or summat.

Thanks to all who took the trouble to reply.

The water around here is fairly soft, so I am not bothering with Calgon.

However I will change the Hoover AL130 01 door gasket and try a couple of 95oC washes, followed by a 40oC wash with washing soda crystals. Then I will try a test wash with some old dust sheets in. I hope that will do the trick.

I will also talk the customer out of using dye in their washer again.
