Tip the machine on its back to allow the container to drain off. Stand it back up, put it on drain cycle then fill container with warm water and repeat the process until clear. 😉

If memory serves me, does this not normally wreck the ion exchange mechanism in the salt pot?

I’m sure I’ve had to replace salt reservoirs due to this in the past.

Let’s hope for hilly’s customers sake that won’t be necessary as the salt unit alone is over £120. 😯

It should flush out OK with loads of warm water. Detergent like salt is easily dispersed in this way and should not affect the silicone crystals with any lasting damage. 🙂

I think also with these old Creda made machines you can flick the timer control to the regenration part of the cycle (not sure where on the dial that is though?) and flush the ion exchanger out as in the ‘backwash’ routine. Personally though I would suggest advising the customer that it may be 3 or 4 full wash cycles before the water softener unit is back to functioning normally again. 😉

thanks for all replies i went today expecting to see it up to the brim with detergent n was fearing the worst but all i found was about a inch in the bottom of the pot so i removed all the water with a large syringe then kept filling it up with warm water and removing it again i repeated this until water was running clear again .

    thanks again paul
