ParticipantHey guys,
I replaced the top fan motor in the freezer compartment this evening dor my mother in law as it was not operating at all.
The freezer is now cold but not cold enough.
Everything else is working and the fridge side is fine.
I do know that the back of the unit has not been cleaned from dust for at least 10 years… As seen by the pure thinkness and amount of cobwebs behind it in the alcove it sits in.
Will cleaning the condensor coils etc make any difference to the freezer cooling? Or am i looking at a weak compressor or another fault..
Many thanks in advance

Possibly a compressor fault but, if it doesn’t get enough airflow to cool it, it will overheat and cut out.
This is known as short cycling, the compressor cuts out before it can fully do what it needs to.

So, sort the airflow issue then ping back what it’s doing after that.

Hi
You will need to defrost the whole fridge freezer for 24hrs with the freezer door left open and then restart it as the freezer evaperator will be clogged with frost due to the fan not running
