I have an AEG Lavamat Protex Plus washing machine, must have had it 5 years because DAG is now hassling me to extend it and because I’ve never had to call for an engineer they can do it for £66 a year not £99 or somewhere around that.
Because it’s been so reliable is it worth paying out for more cover? Every machine before this has required attention in the first 5 years.

After 5 years the machine is ever more likely to fail at some point and for some reason. Your £66 will give you peace of mind should that happen and will cover the cost of at least one call out. And if it is deemed uneconomical to repair you’ll get your money back towards the cost of a new machine likely as not.

Or you keep £66 in the bank in readiness for a down payment towards that new machine. Your machine could sail on for years to come without failure. By which time you’ve saved a whole load of premiums in the process.

    It’s a gamble 😉

    it also depends on use

once a week or 3 times a day

even though the once a week might lead to more corrosion problems 3 times a day will wear out components and need engineers faster

I live alone, when I use the machine it is at least 3 washes in a row but this could be over 3 days. More washes when I have family staying or dog issues but generally 3 to 4 washes once a week is more likely.
