    Philips AMB 595/PH Larder Fridge,
Danfoss 102U 2003 Compressor (probably have not written down all relevant details).
PTC Starter 103N0018 (last 5 digits are still readable).

Fuse blows, PTC starter has burnt out literally. The question is, as these starters appear to be sold seperately is it likely to be a self contained problem or is it more likely that the Danfoss compressor is the cause of the failure?

Any experience of the probability of compressor failure would be appreciated, as I doubt that if this is the case that the fridge is worth repairing.

As a general rule these start relay/overload combinations are very reliable unless they get left off in a damp area. When this happens the moisture that has been absorbed causes the part to burn out.

So if moisture is the normal cause of the PTC starter to burn out, is it likely that the compressor is alright? are they very reliable or is it likely to be faulty?

Yes it is 90{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} likely that the compressor will be OK – surely, the cost of a new relay is worth the chance better than a new appliance??
