ParticipantI went to a scandinova freezer and the compressor had an electronic box fitted to it 105N4001, where can I get one of these.
What is the idea of this? I tried the comp with an ordinary relay no probs short term.
Thanks Kirk

You can get them anywhere Kirk, quite a common part.
It’s an NTC device, most compressors use them now. Connect’s FRG3795 is the one you want 🙂

Sorry Dave nothing like that I have used that type 25+ years.
This one fits on the side of Danfoss pot is about 6 inches square 2 inches thick has a great big alloy heat sink on it and loads of electronics in it.
I can only see it as a starter as there is no wiring going back to anything
Thanks again Kirk

Had 2 of these. Small fuse on the board pops. Replaced and they have run ok since then. 😕

Thanks saw the fuse but haven’t checked it yet was curious to know why it was so involved.
Thanks again Kirk

ParticipantRe: Danfoss electronic stater?
Has anyone managed to source these yet anywhere (sorry Kirk, I assumed you meant the standard NTC type 😳 ) ?
I’ve emailed Danfoss tech earlier as I’ve had a couple of moans by email that people are being told that only a new compressor will do 😯 (not related to UKW ;))

Sounds like it might be an inverter unit for a 3 phase BDC motor

Well I never got one and insurance company wrote it off, but I would still like to know why it is so involved. I put an ordinary relay on and it worked but of course could not leave it.

ParticipantRe: Danfoss electronic stater?
If it worked with an ordinary relay then its not a 3 phase BDC motor as current to these is controlled electronically. It would be interesting to know what exactly this device does! It certainly seems over the top for a compressor does’nt it?.
By the way Dave the thermistors are PTC devices that are used on compressors (the resistance rises as the temperature rises) but I realise it was just a slip of the finger 😉

I’ve only seen one of these, a few years ago, and after pricing the spare, changed the compressor, it was cheaper. I will check for a fuse next time… thanks.
