KeymasterI was asked-ish the other day about what data rapport collects and sends back to the mothership. Which, I have to say was a good one and one I wish had been asked in a more open setting but, just to set the record straight I’ll answer it here…
Not much is the short answer.
There are seven anonymous data points for me unless there’s ever a specific need to delve deeper. Rest assured that, should the need ever arise, you would be made fully aware or what, why and for what client as it won’t be UKW collecting anything other than this.
Postcode sector (the first part of the postcode)
Model number.
Serial/product number.
Fault reported.
Result.
Parts used.
Any fault code displayed.
Currently and, for the near future, that information will not be gathered until there’s a reason to do so. We won’t even collect who the repairer was.
Completely not interested in collecting anything beyond that as it’s completely useless. Asides from which, it’d take up loads of server space that I don’t want to pay for to amass useless and, worthless, information.
We don’t even know who’s using the software as you don’t have to register it, mainly because we’ve no desire to sell you stuff and, as has been the way with UKW since the start due to my obstinate refusal to disclose data to third parties, I would never sell a mailing list.
To even think of selling a customer list, completely abhorrent to me. In other words, it’d happen over my dead body.
What clients do with their information I can’t speak to. What repairers do with their information I can’t speak to. And, to be blunt, neither is any of my business.
The data points mentioned above are for a completely altruistic reason that, once I get my game on with another little project I have cooking will make complete sense to you all. But, that might be the Whitegoods Conference 2013 thing or, might not.
Let’s just park it at, you’ll like it.
