Not true – the importers fitted “UK Spec” kits to the basic Russian model to bring them to a UK saleable standard. This included wheel trims, seat coverings, radio/cassette and the like. Ironically enough the parts removed went back to Russia as spares.
Also worthy of note is that once a month a ship sails out of Hull, taking old Ladas back to Russia for reconditioning, seeing as ours have had so little use!
Can we send the Chinese dishwashers back once a month? Or at least tip them off the end of the quay……

Well, Indesit certainly got it right on their silver models, the ones on which the model number ends in SUK’s 😆

I have to admit to many years ago owning two of these, they were very basic but built like {probably were} old tanks.
My local dealer said back then that cars shipped back they were probably stripped of all usefull parts (wiper blades) and the remaining body shell chucked over the side!
Regards
