ParticipantHi
I have a Zanussi DCS14W Tabletop Dishwasher
For a month or 2 now it seems not to be rinsing properly
I get streaks when the things are dry more noticable on glasses
I tried turning the red dial to reduce the rinse aid, and increasing it,
also theres a plug on back it says can pull out something to do with the water softness, ive tried that in and out to.Any ideas whats causing this?

Which detergent are you using Shirl ?
If it’s 3/4 – in -1 try a standard (good quality) powder or liquid and seperate rinse aid 🙂

hi
Ive tried the new fairy one they advertise, also Tescos and Waitross 3 in 1 tablets are ones ive used to.
Rinse Aid i use Finish Rinse Aid, and Salt i use finish Salt.
Ive even tried using a Dish Washer Cleaner, and that made no difference to this problem.
Im only guessing it has to do with the rinsing, its like white streaks on the glasses when they are dry, and cups/plates sometimes feel rough where it leaves it on them to.
its not all the time and may not be the same thing but sometimes it makes a noise in the cycle like a drone or high pitch noise but it doesnt happen all the time or go on for long when it does.

Any “prepackaged” detergent (ie tablets or bladders) is too much for this table top machine. They are designed to run in full size appliances (12 settings). Yours is a 4/5 place setting machine, so is effectively being overdosed by more than 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}! I would suggest running the machine empty over several programmes to flush out the residues and reverting to a low dose of powder. Ensure that salt and rinse aid levels are set to an appropriate level for your local water hardness and the problems should disappear.
Additionally, do the obvious things – check filter is clear, as well as the wash rotor tips.

Hi,
Please excuse me cutting in:
I’ve noticed similar problems with my friend’s Hotpoint countertop machine; particularly the high-pitched droning (screeching?). This indicates there is too much foam being generated; there is always a slow rotation of the spray arm, in this case.
Sometimes, even the widely available powders which use oxygen bleach (Finish, shops’ own brand) can do this.
The solution I found was to pay a visit to your local “farmer supplies store”. They usually sell “professional” style detergent, such as “Sun” or “Bryta” powders. These contain chlorine-based bleach, which does not foam up to the same extent.
The downside is that glassware is more susceptible to etching (scratches, rainbow patterning, milky-white sheen).

Yes indeed both the Penguin and the ‘anthropod’ ( 😉 ) are spot on here 😀
Use powder detergent (any brand will do to be perfectly honest) BUT only a level tespoonful into the dispenser and your problem is solved 😆

You might like to follow this link:

And download the user book, which will allow you to set the salt and softener correctly.

Looks like that was the problem, its nearly there now, only slight marks now. Im using 1/4 of the tablet (luckily they break easy). Once the box is empty ill try something else maybe dishwasher liquid instead of tablets.
Havent heard the droning high pitch noise since either.
thanks
