Gotta look at, a De Dietrich built in double oven tomorrow, sorry don’t know model, customer says its only 3 years old & only will work when thumped on facia panel , i’m supecting dry joint on pcb, bad connection somewhere.

I’ve never been to look at one of these before & i believe them to be top of the range, very expensive stuff, any advise on dismantling would be appreciated as i don’t wanna mess up as i know the lady who owns the oven & she’s quite dishy….

Yeah they are Seamy, made by Brandt. Tech info is non-existant basically but if it’s one of the ones with temp sensors and two boards (at least) then…

Take some torx screwdrivers, Rosary Beads and Holy Water and you may even survive the ordeal. 😕

…and cross your fingers too!…dismantling is easy, a couple of torx screws to get the lid off (slides back), the fascia has a couple too behind the side flanges.
Did a few for brandt before they withdrew from the locals, most needed new boards and particularly the ribbons between them. If its a pyro you might like to check the lock too ;)…ohh and careful taking the knobs off, they break as soon as you touch them!

O.k heres the update, the selector switch has bad connections & will need replacing, also pcb sems dodgy as the clock display is very dim & needs replacing, any idea is this worth repairing or is a B.E.R, its about 4 years old.

    Model is FX5847E32

If it’s a chargeable one and you’re picking up the tab if it goes wrong I’d be making a B-line for the hills! 😆

Seriously though, you’d be looking at the commutator switch as well as (probably) both display and control PCBs. Not cheap.
