ParticipantHi all,
I have a De Dietrich dishwasher model VZ9996U1/1 and the problem im having is when i start the wash cycle, the drain pump momentarily runs and the wash cycle then shuts off.I thought it was a pump problem so i filled the dishwasher manually with water and reset the programme. The pump then started to drain out quite a large amount of water then the programme knocks off again.
ive also tried manually draining the washer checking for any blockages or debris, but couldnt find anything.
The pump also looked in good condition.
Any help is much appreciated.

This is a Fagor built machine IIRC. When the programme aborts, do you get any flashing lights, or does it literally go dead?

The programme light stays on (green), and there is a flashing red light next to a star symbol that constantly flashes. This red light seemed to constantly flash though when the machine was working properley.
cheers

Hi Sean,
There is, literally, bog all service information on this machine. All there is really is a wiring diagram (if you can call it that) and a parts list with some diagrams to identify parts (which aren’t brilliant). So, I’m afraid if your going to have a crack at this yourself it’s going to come down to good old diagnostic skills.
On almost all dishwashers the pump will run when the program starts to clear the sump and then the water valve should energise, occasionally other components will have to send a signal, such as the pressure switch or the circ. pump.
All you can do is sit with a meter and try to work it out I’m afraid or you call in an engineer to get a look at it.
Fair warning though, De Dietrich parts prices are horrific even at trade and they are often slow to obtain as well. You should also know that there are a few parts on this machine that are labeled as “abandoned” which is Fagor Brandt French speak for obsolete.

Hi cliffyspliff
I’ve just got exactly the same problem on my VZ9996U1 dishwasher.
I press the start button (the green light lights up), close the door, and nothing happens. I open the door – and the green start light has now disappered. I.e. the machine has aborted the programme immediately without doing anything.
Did you manage to get to the bottom of what the problem was with yours? Thanks

I suspect the base tray is full of water and has operated the float switch, probabley leaking from wash pump, switch off remove front panel and kickboard check if base tray has water in it and locate leak, good luck!!
