Hi, I have a De Dietrich DOD798B which is approx 16 months old which has recently developed a rather annoying fault.

Most of the time the oven works normally but every so often during cooking it seems to be nowhere near the selected temperature. If the selected temperature is changed it does then appear to correct itself but as this is intermittent you have to notice the problem before you can fix it (this seems to occur approx 1 in every 10-15 uses and typically halfway through a roast throwing everything into disarray).

Due to its infrequent nature it is difficult to give many consistent details of what happens apart from the above and that it looks like its working but when you open the oven door you can tell straight away it is not as hot as it should be.

It is outside of the original 12 months guarantee and we did not register with De Dietrich for the 5 year extended warranty so they are declining to help. But again due to the intermittent nature the chances are if someone did come to look at it then fault will not occur.

Anybody got any ideas what the problem might be or suggest what I might be able to do to remedy the problem?

    Many, many thanks in advance.

P.S. the oven has always cooked a bit slower than our previous oven and recommended times are often not quite enough so we suspect it has never been quite as hot as it should be.
