    Hi

We have a De Dietrich Wm1578u21 ceramic hob and one of the elements ( the larger one at the back) has suddenly stopped heating. The warning light still comes on so it doesn’t look like the switch. Any idea what part might have failed?

Where we live is pretty remote so is this likely to be a Diy repair, or will I have to remove the unit and take it to a specialist?

Many thanks for any help you can provide.

    Mark.

    Hi Mark,

It is likely to be the plate element I would think but you’d have to test it to be sure.

    Parts shouldn’t be an issue.

    Thanks K.

Is it a big job to test, or is it just a conductivity test with a multimeter?
If so, what part/connections do you test? Haven’t taken the base off yet for a look.

I’ve not looked at it but, I’d assume, that it’s a simple element if it’s just a ceramic hob possibly with a safety stat across it, glass rod.

You should be able to check for continuity with a multimeter on both though.

    K.
