De Dietrich oven trips electrics when turned off.

Called to a De Dietrich double oven model DOD328XU11, customer reported the oven trips the electrics when it’s been on for about twenty minutes and is then turned off. The oven does not trip when in use or when the thermostat cuts in and out.

There were an earth faults on the top oven lower element and the bottom oven grill element so have replaced these.

usually an oven will trip when turned on or when an element heats but I have never known one to trip at the pint of being turned off.

Does anyone have any ideas on this?

Check the fan motor, take an insulation reading cold and then run it for a few minutes and do the same. see if it has come down. Had similar issues on Electrolux ovens.

Thanks for the suggestion Eastimark,

There was originally an insulation fault with 3 elements.
The upper grill was 28M’Ohms dropped to 6.8M’Ohms when hot
The Bottom Grill was 50M’Ohm didn’t deteriorate when hot
Top Oven lower element was clear when cold but dropped to 1.2M’Ohm when hot.
The fan remained clear in both conditions.
The customer was going to go ahead and have all elements replaced but I suggested we only change the 2 worse ones as at 50M’Ohm I didn’t think it would be enough to trip and it didn’t deteriorate when hot.
I also had a look at the selector switch for signs of melting and arcing but as far as I could tell it looked OK and it didn’t spark when being switched.
The thing that I don’t understand is why it should trip only at the point of turning the oven off particularly when it doesn’t happen when the thermostat cuts in and out.
