dead EWG 127410

Hello. 😀

I have an EWG 127410 Washing Machine that does not Power up (Blank Display).
I have examined the control board which has a blown (open circuit) 47 Ohm resistor (R93). I suspect another problem and am wondering if there are any common faults with this machine that would blow R93 as it appears to have overheated. 😯

In the trade we generally do not go down to components at board level. But rather inspect the circuit (PCB track) to see to what component it leads to ( i.e Motor, pump, door lock etc) to give a clue as to what blew the board. Then factor in the cost of a replacement board as well as the guilty component as to whether a repair is economically viable.

Good luck with sourcing a replacement resistor meanwhile.

Hi there.

Thanks for that. I’m carrying out the repair for a friend who has a white goods repair business. I’ve 20yrs in the electronics business with a broad spectrum of repair work behind me. I’m just starting to repair some boards for him to save him sending them away for repair. Its prohibitively expensive to replace these boards with new as people often wont pay.

Anyway, the resistor (£ 0.12p)feeds AC (low current) to an LNK304GN (AC to DC converter (£ 1.00p) which appears to have an internal short.

Just ordered the bits from RS Components.

I guess you’re not then looking at the appliance to know what the PCB track feeds to? Instead you just have a PCB on a workbench? So there’s a good chance of fixing the board but and unless the culprit is replaced you could potentially be back to square one? That’s also on the assumption that the pre-programmed microprocessor hasn’t been corrupted in the meanwhile. 🙁
