ParticipantI changed out the brushes on my Bosch WFL2260 today. All went well, got it all back together again, powered up – – then bzzt bzzt from the region of the front control panel and the whole thing went dead – no lights no life.
It was powering up before I changed the brushes (just not spinning or turning the drum), but it’s totally dead now.
Have I fried the system board (& if so, was it something I did??)
Jim
ps – assuming it’s the system board, is it as well writing off the machine (it’s 5 yrs old)?

Oh dear oh dear !!!
I think you have bu&&ered it (excuse the phraseology – trade term and all that!)…..You have fried the board I’m afraid…..I’ve seen it before and usually caused by a DIY’er putting the brushes in incorrectly and not meggering the brush housing before reassembly… 🙁

They were the right way round that’s definite – I checked.
It fried on power up even though I hadn’t started a prog.
do you think there’s been a short to earth somewhere in the brush assy?

It’s so much easier when you keep it all in one thread…………
I note in your other thread that the drum won’t budge. Assuming that this has locked the motor it has probably cooked the armature. If you megger it, you probably find that the armature is leaking to earth – this will cook the control board.

Nope, you must be looking at another thread. My drum was aok – freely rotating- before and after brush change.
Moreover, no power would be applied to the drum, ’cause no program was started.

Hi
As previous posts, sounds like motor or other components may be damaged. There are two makes of motor that could be fitted to your appliance.
May I suggest using the find an engineer link below as the problem you had is rapidly going pear shaped.regards

Your other thread states:
“I’ve got the motor out of my Bosch with a view to replacing the brushes (drum won’t budge & open circuit measured across the brushes).”
What are we supposed to make of it? Get the motor meggered for earth leakage, be prepared to be amazed at the price of motor and module repalcement.
