My fridge freezer needs a new defrost element.

The problem is that it’s a 15 year old White Westinghouse (Model No. RTD16VJCW1) and an official spares dealer quoted me over £100 all-in and 4-6 weeks for a replacement. That’s a very long time when you’re dismantling the freezer and hairdrying it every few days. It’s also a lot of money for a 425w element – this one is the coil type , it’s c. 20″ long overall, dead straight apart from the right angles at each end which extend another 3″ to each tail lead and terminator (ie total element length of c. 26″). I find it hard to believe that there isn’t a compatible spare out there – obviously, the original W/W 230v spare would be a rarity but I’d have thought something domestic would do the job. Any suggestions?

    Re: Defrost Heater Element

Any chance of taking a photo and posting it or email it to me ?

Hopefully I may be able to identify a suitable replacement.

    I’ll try anyway 😉

    Dave.
