I am in need of information.
I have an LG GR-409GPA frig/freezer which has been working perfectly for several years. Recently sheet ice has been forming under the bottom box in the freezer. This happens every day or so, and will build up until I break it up and remove it. The quantity of water which flows into the base is considerable. In the manual it says “Defrosting takes place automatically. The defrosting water flows down to the evaporating tray and is evaporated automatically”. It seems that in my machine the water now flows down into the bottom freezer tray! I would like to know how this comes about. Is there some pipe which has become blocked (by ice or grot)? And does the evaporation tray have a heater to speed the evaporation? I can remove the back of the freezer compartment but I would like to know what I should expect to find and how to tackle it.

    Any help much appreciated.

    Hi

Defrost the whole fridge freezer.. then at the rear of the appliance just above the compressor there is a tray that holds the defrost water, just above that you will find a bit of rubber (normally black). Pull this off and throw away and then restart your appliance as normal.

Thanks Bryan, when I can get the whole thing defrosted I will give it a try.
