ParticipantJust quoted for a replacement oven control switch for the above. The pic on connect looks like it comes with a load of wires attached and I seem to remember a post regarding a wireing conversion has any one done one, And how difficult was it? Any help much appreciated.

The wiring diagram comes with the kit (or should do), it involves replacing every wire in the cooker and takes a good hour or so 🙁

I had a horrible feeling someone was going to say that 😥
Would it not be possible just to change the new switch wire for wire
as my eyes and brain are getting to old for anything complicatedGoose

I have done dozens of these conversions and it is really easy, you can buy the switch on its own but the load still then comes through the switch, on the conversion it is diverted so no more problems, in days when I just changed switch some would only last a few weeks.

i changed just the switch before conversion was available and switch burnt out within 8 months.Went back and done conversion a bit shocked when it came but was a piece of you know what 😀 good job as people dont like changing large items like range cookers. 😉

Big Thanks for all the positive replies. Over quoted job to allow for extra time needed to carry out repair, Will call early and turn the mobile off and tell cust to keep dogs & kids out of the kitchen. Robinsonrobbo your are right about customer perception, Because she paid over a grand for the cooker she bit my hand of when i quoted the price (£125.00).

ParticipantYep im on about 70 takes me 30 mins max with cup of tea now best way just rip all the old wiring out and start from scratch remember to leave the ignition wires in place .It is a straight forward job watch out when cutting wires dont hit the thermostat phial i speak from experiance on that.Make sure you do replace the wiring or youll be back for a recall whithin a month

Called back to job today took about 2 hrs, But had to go and buy a new MTB as the very cheap and nasty one fitted had burnt out. Not as bad as I thought but would’t want to do 2 in a day.

Did my first today. Took 2 hrs but wanted to check everything. Confident now. Used fine permanent marker to label all spade connections.
No cover for switch in wiring kit though 😕S.
