ParticipantEvening all, just wondered if anyone else out there has noticed strange things happening with regard to above. Over the last few weeks we have been out to Servis machines and have had to scrap them because of the high cost of parts. We were somewhat suprised to find that D&G had replaced the appliance with another brand from Comet. Has anyone else noticed this ?? Obviously if the brand is changed there is a good chance that the D&G network will lose out on the next repair of customers appliance.

No surprise at the write-off levels, that’s one of the reasons we dropped the GBDAR work as I was fed up be paid a half fare for an increasing amount of calls.
I am also not surprised that these machines are not being replaced by a Servis again, well given the BER rate on them it’s hardly a shock, but DAG will probably replace with whatever is either economically sensible or what they have an “arrangement” for. Remember DAG are not a retailer and therefore would probably not have the logistics in place to carry out national replacements so they may well be forced into a corner there.
I very much doubt there’s anything malicous or suspect there.

K.Same here ,We got out 2 weeks ago ,I think D&G have a replacement appliance contract with comet which always seemed strange to me as they sell AON policies I might be wrong and am more than happy to be corrected .

seems to me that policys starting with C4 are comet sold appliances and theres no shortage of them over the years we have been doing the work.
You have to believe D&G know what they are doing so I agree with kwatt. nothing suspicious there….

I agree with those above. We have also noted this happening and perhaps what is of concern is that the new replacement item is of a brand only available from Comet. This subsequently ensures that the repair goes back to Comet and not forward to the D&G independent network. Nothing sus there, but they must realise that if they don’t support their own network etc. Perhaps someone from D&G would care to comment??

KeymasterWhere was the original appliance sold from that is being replaced? It is probably more likely that DAG are sending the customer back to the original retailer and Comet are replacing the appliance with an “own brand” rather than DAG. I wouldn’t be surprised by that at all as many retailers have effectively kicked Servis appliances out due to their stunning record of reliability. 😉
That being the case, if there is no direct replacement available, then the closest match on spec and price would be used to replace it. I mean, no-one is going to replace a £180 Servis with a £250 Hotpoint are they? Of course not, so they would use whatever fits the bill and if that happens to be an Indesit or a Blomberg then what’s the difference?
And here’s a thought for you, if you were DAG or the retailer would you put another Servis in?

If D&G are steering replacements to Comet and hence not supporting their Independent repair Agents, what does the independent repairer do ?
We came up against this “none support” about trwo years ago. We complained to D&G that we were only getting “rubbish” work, which they admitted, but were unable to do anything about. Our only option we could see was to vote with our feet; which we did.
