ParticipantHi,
I have this problem which seems to be common on this machine however, a few things happened which might be a good pointer to the cause of the fault. Reading other similar posts, it is a heating fault or a PCB.
The cycle probably goes about half way and I can definitely say the machine is heating – to the point everything in the machine is almost scalding hot and to be honest – we still get a half decent wash on moderately dirty dishes! If it is a heat fault, could it be getting too hot and thus, causing the problem or…..3 days before Christmas, the door catch broke and I managed to source one which arrived Christmas eve. I fitted it without too much trouble but one time, I lost a grip of the door as I lined up the inner panel and it fell – obviously putting tension on the cables to the PCB. I got it all sorted and back in place only to turn on the machine and find it wouldn’t start at all. I stripped it down again and sure enough, the mouth organ connector on the PCB was not fully pushed in. I connected it correctly and put the machine back together.
Got it working but I cannot honestly remember when we first noticed the fault codes so it might of been me knackering it doing the door repair or a fault that took a little more time to appear.
Either way – do you think it is pretty good odds that it is the PCB gone? I have contacted Indesit and of course, they won’t give much help except to say an engineer needs to come round at £104 call out fee plus parts and labour!! I can add a 12 month guarantee for £14.99 a month (for 12 months) which would cover the repair, labour etc or a new machine if it cannot be fixed! As an aircraft electrician, I think I might well gamble on the PCB but is there anything else you can give me a more detailed rundown on how to check?
Many thanks in advance,
Lee

It is possible that you have dislodged the NTC that is slotted into the inner door panel. Its the temp control device and is hard wired to the PCB. It should slot into a small clip in the centre of the inner door panel.
£180.00 over 12 months, they are having a laugh, its only worth £50 at the most, possibly not even that. I would want £50.00 to take it off your hands. 😉
You think you have phoned Hotpoint but like as not you have been routed through an insurance company. Lots of manufacturers at playing that game these days. :rolls:
The time you have already spent perusing these forums should tell you what a poor quality machine this is.
If the NTC is in situ then it does point to a PCB failure.
Full serial number needed to ID correct part.

It could well be. Is the NTC the little white’ish’ block? I found it dangling and couldn’t see where it went and sadly, the photos I took before stripping it down didn’t cover that area.
In the end, I found a small brass like clip where it ‘seemed’ to slot in nicely which if I remember, was central on the inner door panel. Sounds right by what you have replied. I am guessing it doesn’t have to be a certain way round or anything – or possibly even damaged where it was obviously ‘ripped’ out of the clip with the force of the door weight pulling it out.
As it is hard wired to the PCB, I guess it is part of it and no chance of getting one seperate?
Must admit tho, for a poor quality machine, it has done 5 or 6 years without skipping a beat and I think it is fair to say had I not had to replace the door clip, it would probably still be running fine. Luck of the draw I guess and it is no Bosch I know, but for £200 back then it has done us well. Then again, we have a Peugeot car that is a bitch and I know many Peugeot owners who have had no problems – thats life huh! 😆
Thanks for getting back to me,
Kind regards,
Lee
