    41ER110B1 single circuit simmerstat. I bought this as a universal one and attempted to fit it as a replacement for a 31ER1HT. I saw there was a piece of paper in the packet which I took to be a key to the terminal code numbers/letters. I found it was just an instruction to fit the jumper wire from P1 to 4. There was no other info. and initially I thought I would have to abandon the job. I then found an old Hotpoint leaflet that gave codes for the 31ER7HT simmerstat:

    P1 = Live
    P2 = Neutral
    S = Pilot
    2 = Load

    I fitted the wire link as they showed in the photo but probably didn’t need to as the cooker has no pilot light. I connected the live, neutral and load as above, switched on and blew up the simmerstat plus blew the cooker fuse in the consumer unit. I’ve now got another simmerstat the same but need some advice before I risk fitting it. I saw Dave Conways posts on Diamond H but they do not specify the 41ER110B1
    😕 ❗

    Phi,
    According to the info I’ve got the Neutral should be on Terminal 4A

    You’ll find the regulator and diagram here.

    Re: Diamond H Disaster

    Thanks Brian. That explains it then. P2 is the switched live for the pilot light, not the neutral!! That seems very dangerous, using the same code for very different connections on equivalent devices. 👿
