DIF04 dishwasher wash pump.

Hi, got the usual (it seems) spray arms not turning problem.

Takes in water, heats up, pumps out but does not wash. Stripped off wash pump – looks like huge waste pump and seperated the heating element from the end – now heres the question — the impeller just pulls off the shaft to show a sort of drive cam with two rubberish dogs that seem to just sit in the base of the hole – is this correct – surely the impellor should not be able to just pull off.

The drive arrangement is strange – if this is correct then the only way Incan see it working is on centrifugal force – as the shaft spins the rubber dogs are forced out and grip the sides of the impeller to make it turn !!

Has anyone replaced/seen the inside of this type of wash pump – or shall I just replace the whole unit.

On the indesit dif04 dish washer it would be the pump with impeller assy part number C00256525.

Reminds me of the one fitted to the whirlpool/hygena dishwashers that used to fail

There has been a high incidence of pump failures on this model and its Hotpoint clone. 😥

Just as a matter of interest the rotor/impellor assy has a tab which locates on pump body. How do you know when you twist fit it its not moved out of position? blob of debor before fitting?

fitted loads of wash motors and heaters on ind/hot newer type dishwashers, they only last for 2-3 years max, carry both on my van as use them so often. Suppose this is progress for you!
