    Hi,

Looking around at getting a new washer. I can’t figure out what the difference is between these two, or which is the newer or better washer.

The LG website doesn’t help much since it mentions the WF-T552TH but when you go through to the PDF brochure it only shows the WT-H555TH.

I have seen the WF-T552TH at the Good Guys for $579 and the WT-H555TH at another Good Guys for $599.

Any idea of which one model I should be going for?

    Cheers

    Hi
All I can see is that the WT-H555TH has a 5.5kg wash capacity and the WF-T552TH has a 7.5kg wash capacity 😀

Pretty sure that the initial ’55’ in both these designates 5.5kg, and LG site au.lge.com shows the following.

    Model : WF-T552TH

    5.5kg White TurboDrum Washer

    RRP: $749

but clicking through to the brochure it shows LG WT-H555TH model. Just looking at the date updated, 10 Aug 06, makes me think this is the newer model. If so, trying to figure if I can bargain them down on the older model and how much improved the new model is.

    cheers

WTH555TH Uses a direct drive motor system (similar to F&P Smart drives)No belts /pulleys etc
Less moving parts Motor is directly attached to the wash bowl .Wash action /bowl movement is generated by the motor actions

WFT552TH Uses a transmission system IE Gearbox /Wash action is generated by the reveresing action of motor (Pulley Belt) through the transmission

Personallyi feel the direct drive system is the better machine to go for

I’m sorry, but a few Vodka’s later I’m still waiting on the punchline to the titlw of this thread…

It’s an LG, they’re okay machines I guess (maybe, sort of, okay then, an outside bet) with one of, what is possibly, the worst backup services known to mankind.

Is there not something better you could buy other than Korean rubbish?

I’m not biased, just jaded with LG’s backup or lack thereof and the triumph of marketing over actual delivery of promises.

3rdM is considering his F+P 058 TL with this. If front loaders are beginning to make headway in Australasia, there must be better choices, given the problems we have over here.

Perhaps our poster could give us a run down of front loading brands available down under?

    Re LG Service
We are a service agent for LG Whitegoods
LG Australia have got there act together
    Parts are generally overnight
Technical help & support are first class
They are one of the better companys to deal with

As far as top load washers go /value for money there a pretty good unit

Parts Are cheap out of warranty & they are pretty easy to repair.

Personally I am a FRONTLOAD Fan (Miele )

    The better units Miele($1700.000) AEG($1300.00)

I’d have to agree with bigpipesmoker on all points.

In Australia, LG would have to be the best value ($ spent / wash) top loader with good backup. LG have recently increased their rates for warranty work from below average to slightly over average, and their parts backup is among the best, and spares pricing beats locally made stuff. Quality is as good as local stuff and IMHO far better than the NZ machines.

A good front loader (Miele, AEG) would be a far better machine, but a LG top loader is better than a cheap front loader.
