    Diplomat 8242 integrated dishwasher. Nr. 04929 0402.

Switch on, set to any programme, Machine drains, then fills on and off (drain pump still running), pump stops. Fills to pressure switch first click then beeps and drains machine. Main wash motor does not run at any time. Stops with LED No’s 1+2+3 flashing and No.5 solid.
A look in Smeg fault codes reveals the nearest code to this means flow meter detected. This machine has no flow meter and I’ve reset it numerous times. 👿

    Any ideas? 😕

    Cheers,

    Steve.

Circulation pump turns freely – I took the front hose off to check. I’ll have to try resetting it again – more wasted time on a piece of junk. :rolls:

    Cheers anyway, guys!!
Any other suggestions (not involving the use of a sledge hammer) gratefully recieved.

Its more than just a reset, take note especially of the part I have marked ** If you do not get this sequence re-start the proceedure again.

The PCB fitted to this appliance is standard on a number of models manufactured by Smeg, some models are
fitted with a flow meter, but the version sold by MFI Howdens joinery will not be fitted with the flow meter.
In cases where a new PCB is fitted or the customer’s property has suffered from a power surge, the PCB will
return to its factory settings, which is to search for a reading from a flow meter, because the MFI Howdens
joinery appliance is fitted with a pressure switch and not a flow meter, the appliance will indicate an E7 fault.
    Fault indication
    Fault error E7 Error signal
    LED combination shown:
First three LED’s flashing, fifth LED ‘On’
There is no functional fault with the PCB or any other component on the appliance,
the PCB has defaulted to the factory settings.
Solution DO NOT REPLACE THE PCB
The engineer will need to enter into a test program sequence to return the PCB to a
pressure switch system and not a flow meter.
    Reset procedure for the PCB
With the door open, turn on the appliance and within three seconds push 4 times on the program selection
button – **The test program has been selected if the SOAK and STRONG LED’s are flashing**
This LED combination represents the test program for the appliances that have a flow meter.
If the above indication is not shown on the appliance, switch the appliance off and try the sequence again
until the above LED’s are shown on display.
Now push on the program button once more to select the version ‘without flow meter’, check that the SOAK
LED goes out, and the display is indicated as below.
Do not close the appliance door, to complete settings switch the appliance off.
Now switch the appliance ‘on’ and test on a SOAK program.
It is possible for this fault to exist on earlier models, if the appliance has had a PCB replaced with the latest
    version. (earlier model are ADP8112 & 8132).

    Hi,

Does this machine have five led’s running from the left with the prog selector button alongside on the right of these led’s. If so, I have found by changing the timer does work 99 times out of 100. The ser number suggests it was made five years back, again if this is the case, change timer. The replacement timer comes with seven led’s but when you replace the timer it becomes apparent where these go. When replacing the timer do not forget to lift the white flap that fits between the rubber button and the mini micro button on the timer otherwise you will not be able to select any programmes.

    All the best

Thanks very much everyone – I am going to try that default reset (thanks Mark!! 😀 ).
And if that fails, new PCB time!!! (thanks Oldtog!! 😀 )

    Steve.

P.S. Do you think that the ‘default reset’ procedure should be posted in the ‘Known error codes’ thread, Mark? Could be very useful to others. 😉

    Re: Diplomat 8242 integrated dishwasher.

If it’s not too late, I suggest trying to clear the fill tube. I suspect that you will find this to be blocked. To access this quickly, you need to remove the filters inside the machine and locate a rubber flap at the back right hand side of the sump. This flap can be removed.

The tube that runs behind it connects to the fill device on the RHS of the machine. A quick fix can usually be done by pushing a long flexible cable tie into the tube (It turns through 90degrees) and giving it a thorough rodding!!! The gunge which should appear in the sump when you do this could well be the cause of your problem.

A more thorough clean if required can be achieved by removing the filling device and pulling a rag or similar through the tube.

    Good luck. Graham

    Re: Diplomat 8242 integrated dishwasher.

Thanks Graham. This particular machine doesn’t have a flap as the airbox is used solely as an airbreak and not a water metering system. I know the style you mean; I’ve heard they need a good rodding from time to time! :innocent:

    Cheers,

    Steve.
