Diplomat 8242 strange problem

Hi,

Our dishwasher has stopped working. The original problem was that the selected wash light would continually flash and the washer would not respond to the prog selection button.

After reading on here I have performed a reset. (four press of button technique) which resulted in the flood error lights (first light lit, last light flashing). Indeed there was water in the bottom which has now been mopped up.

Whilst in the flood error light state the door can be closed and the system appears to perform a rinse cycle, however no other prog can be selected. (I have noticed more water slowly gathering during this.)

Repeating the reset procedure twice in quick succession results in both the first and last light flashing twice before going back to the flood error.

Here’s the funny thing. I had read that the successful reset was indicated by the first and last lights flashing so suspected a continuing flood switch fault. I have found that if I blow down the tube that is connected to the flood switch i can hear it change state and I can select programs as normal. As soon as i remove the pressure, the flood error lights return.

Please help, I’m baffled. How does pressure on this switch give a “run” state?

Erm, I’m not a D/w engineer, but i’d hazard a guess that you’re actually operating a LEVEL switch!

I’d expect to find a flood -switch external to the main chamber,in order to detect water leakage into the casing”sump”

You do, of course, need to rectify the leak. the chemicals (salt, detergent, rinse-aid) do nasty things to the motor-windings, cables, connectors and solenoids.

I’d rinse -off the wetted components, give it 48 hours in a warm place to dry -out, then spray with WD40 before re-installing.
