The dishwasher seems to be ok until it comes time for the water to be heated up, the water does heat up as there is steam when you open the door, however, there is an electrical smell of burning and then the house trips out, this sounds like a live to earth or neutral to earth fault ?

how and where is the water heated ? if I was to guess then I would think the steam is getting somewhere it shouldnt be or the element is breaking down ?

    Regards

Heater is a tube type under the tub. Wiring/connector block burning out is not uncommon.

    Power off before going in.
