Hello, maybe a common query but I couldn’t find anything directly relevant in here, so….

Diplomat 8552- noisy drum bearings- kit seems to be available for about £16- is there anything “tricky” about fitting this? Or is it about the same level of blue air as wheel bearings on a car, say?

It looks like a retaining nut has to come off the drive pulley and an alloy spider/bearing holder has to be unbolted from the back of the drum in order to access the seal and inner and outer bearings. Is there anything else that it would be worth replacing to save on subsequent aggro- some of the old posts about bearings in other machines suggest various problems….?

    Cheers

Hi Chris, if you can change a wheel bearing you should be o.k with the drum bearing.
The only difficulty is the bearing shell is some times rusted in, this is where a puller or a hammer and a sturdy screwdriver come in handy. 😉

    John.
