Keymaster🙁 Have an 8702 washer dryer which has stopped drying. No air flow, hot or cold. First engineer said that the mains filter and module had burnt out which was replaced. This did not cure problem and second engineer has said that heating element and fan need replacing. But have done continuity check and get positive result and no 240 volt supply to the heater and fan when in drying mode. Machine is 3 years old. Anybody got any ideas as to problem. Thanks.

It may sound obvious and you may already know about it, but as you haven’t mentioned it, is the 1/2 load button pushed in ? It needs to be for the dryer to operate.
I know we have recieved many service requests from customers who have moved in to a house with an MFI kitchen where the previous owners have not left the user manuals behind and many people do not know that on these Merloni manufactured washer/dryers the dryer will not work unless the half load option button is selected.
Just a thought, if that isn’t the problem let us know please.
Dave.

Thanks for reply Dave. We do have the 1/2 load button pushed in and the timer does go around. But no hot air! Is there any sort of re-set button or process? Thanks.

ParticipantHi Dave,
Think of it as an air pump – the fan must run to move hot air through the clothes. If the fan is not running/clagged/blocked/obstructed in any way, the safety will trip and kill the heaters. This is the one with the red button on the heater box. The other thing to bear in mind is that the machine will only dry half a load at a time – if you’ve left a full load in to dry you are effectively obstructing the airflow and the above will apply.
BEFORE YOU CHECK OUT ANY OF THIS – PULL THE PLUG!!!!!!!
Good luck,

I am almost certain I can answer this one for you. You will almost certainly find that one of the push-buttons will be open circuit, and probably showing signs of melting. The supply to the dryer timer comes from that particular switch, but I can’t remember which switch! I think it is the 2nd switch in.
Please look at the row of red switches, you’ll almost certainly find that one of them is open-circuit.

You can’t download them online Malcolm
If you phone MFI Extracare on 0845 7959722 they will arrange for one to be sent to you.
Dave.
