Hi, the fan on my Diplomat ADP 3101 does not start turning immediately. It normally takes about 5 minutes before it starts turning after I turn the power on. I have taken a look at the fan and it turns smoothly by hand. Could someone suggest how I could fix this please. How do I access the fan motor to take a look at it and maybe clean it (assuming that is the right thing to do). Thanks for your help.

Almost certainly will require a new fan motor as the bearings wear out. Access requires removing panels and stuff so…………………. POWER OFF FIRST :zap:

Thanks Martin, do I access the fan motor from the back of the oven? Or do I have to go via the front of the oven, past the element and then to the motor. Can a ‘novice’ take the motor apart and give it a clean to try and get it ‘motoring’ again? Thanks!

It’s at the back which involves removal of the oven. A ‘novice’ with good electro/mechanical knowledge and the correct tools can succeed I’m sure. 😉

Hi there, once I get the back of the oven off to try and remove the fan motor………would it be okay to spray some WD40 into it to try and free up the bearings? Is that the best thing to use? Thanks for your help.

You can try it, but it rarely lasts, due to the heat. Replacement is usually the only practical long term solution.

There are early and late motors.

The early one is p/no 77X3597 and can be identified by its “horseshoe” mounting brackets.

The late one is p/no 76X3718 and can be identified by having three legs on the circular plate.

Email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk for prices and ordering.

    Regards,
