    Hi,

I have just moved home and now have this Diplomat oven, on which nothing appears to work. There are no buttons on the front, only holes where the buttons should be, and no lights on the timer light up when I switch it on. Otherwise it seems to be in reasonably good condition, and I’m keen to get it working rather than have to buy a new one. My old cooker didn’t have a timer anyway, and I’ll get along fine without a timer on this one as well.

I spent some time researching this on the internet before joining this forum, and found directions for bypassing timer units on other Diplomat ovens, but unfortunately not this one.

There is a click from the timer when I switch the oven on or off at the wall, and I have established that the brown wire(s) going into the timer are live. Viewed from the back, there is a brown wire which splits into two, and plugs into the timer at the 6 and 9 o’clock positions. There is also a blue wire at the 5 o’clock position, and a black wire at 10 o’clock.

I have tried disconnecting the black and blue wires from the timer and joining them together with a paper clip, but the oven still didn’t work, and I don’t want to do anything with the brown wires until I know what I’m doing.

Of course my assumption that the timer is the problem could be wrong, so please let me know if there is anything else I should check.
