I have a 3yr old Diplomat Dishwasher ADP 8132. It seems to take in water and drain (water empties through the kitchen drain) at the start of the programme, then nothing else happens. When I open the door everything is hot but there is no sign of water having been in the dishwasher except a small amount in the drain at the bottom. Nothing has been cleaned and the soap is lying in the bottom. The element smells (like a kettle that has boiled dry). i have tried cleaning the pipe behind the black flap with a bottle brush and a small but insignificant amount of slusge came out. When I tested it again – no change. Even the rinse programme leaves everything dry. Any ideas would be appreciated. PS. No error indications are showing.

Does the machine actually hold water? Try filling it with water from a jug or something and see if the water drains straight out of the machine. It’s possible that the water is syphoning out.

A more likely possibility is that the air break has clogged up (usually an engineer job as it requires the machine to be opened up) or the pressure switch has failed causing faulty pressure level readings.

There’s also the possibilty that the timer has failed although my guess is it’s a blockage.

Try Repairs@ for a local engineer, or if you fancy trying to clear this yourself remember to unplug first :zap:

    Forgot to add:

Check that the spray arms aren’t blocked. They detach easily for cleaning – run them under a tap and give them a little slap.
