Hi chaps
I have searched through the forum prior to posting this.
I’m looking for advice as to how to fix this, starting with the easiest option first!
I think that starting with the outlet pipe and some judicious use of a bottle brush could be a start. Am I right in thinking that where the central filter, in the base of the appliance is where the outlet pipe is? There is a little water sitting just next to where i think the outlet is, which makes me think that it has got gunged up.
I have to go buy a bottle brush, and if this does not sort out the problem, could anyone advise me on the next thing to check?

Yeah Lynne you can give that a bash but if it doesn’t cure it then you’ll likely need an engineer as it will need stripped down and cleaned or the metering tank replaced most likely.

please can you tell me what’s caused this, so that i can prevent it from happening again?

I have a water softener, so don’t use salt in the dishwasher, and always use finish liquid gel.

Generally it’s just a build up of gunk in the metering tank, normally caused by waste (greasy) water entering through the drain in my experience and I’ve seen one or two with the famed E2 error.

Like the manual says, it should be on a standpipe…

However it does just happen that the tank gets dirty enough to cause the error, it’s one of those, it’s a fault but not really a fault things and there’s little you can do to totally guard against it. 😕

I’m pretty handy at stripping down machinery (I recently replaced the motor in my hedge trimmer)
How hard is this to do?
I see there are some screws in the base of the machine, near where the spray arm sits, is this what i have to remove to get to the metering tank, or the parts that get bunged up?
Do you know where i can get hold of an exploded diagram of this appliance?

We’re not allowed by law (blame Brussels) to offer a manual, wiring diagrams, specific “how to” advice or anything like that and the manufacturers would jump on us over copyright issues anyway for besides that. The best we can do is point you in the right direction. 😕

The metering tank is in the side and it requires the appliance out and stripped, it’s not a two minute job even for someone familiar with the machine. Also, without knowing what it does or how it works it’s pretty hard to tell whether it is needing replaced or not although it is a pretty cheap repair usually.

I know a lot of people would love to cure this error by themselves but I’m afraid it is one that I generally tell people is not a DIY job as it’s a pig for us let alone someone with no experience of the machine.

ok, thanks for the advice, i’ll try the bottle brush approach and if that doesn’t do the trick i’ll call out an engineer 🙁

Hi, i’ve bought a bottle brush, and have removed the 2 filters in the base (one silver, one white plastic).
There are several holes, one of which is covered with a black plastic hinged cover, perhaps a valve of sorts, and a couple of others.
Is one of these the outlet pipe?
What would happen if i undid the screws on the white plastic base, and removed it?
Can i get to the outlet pipe easier that way?

It’s not the putlet pipe you’re looking for, it’s the transfer pump from the fill matrix. Simplest solution is to give both tubes a good seeing to as you won’t do any harm. Specifically, the one leading off to the right hand side is the one to really work at.

Please can you tell me how i get to these tubes, as i seem to be just staring at a white plastic horizontal component with a recess where the centre filter goes.
Do i need to take the dishwasher out from under the unit (it is an integrated one)
do i need to unscrew this white base plate thing?
I’m nervous about pushing too hard with my bottle brush in case it gets stuck!
can i use a mr muscle toilet foaming pipe cleaner product on it?!

flippin’ heck, i hate it when things break down!

With the filters removed, and preferably the bottom rotor as well, you should be able to see a couple of openings on the lower side of the bowl. These are where you should be cleaning. Do not use any cleaners, and don’t undo the screws – the bottom will fall off!

There is no need to remove the dishwasher from its housing at this stage.

Scrub away vigorously, you’ll be surprised at what will come out.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You’ll wreck it using that, you can only use non-foaming detergent and anything that caustic could seriously damage the regen chamber as well. So best not eh? 😉

The pipes are not really that accesible but they are under the filter and you should see the holes for them in the sump, one may have a rubber flap on it IIRC.

ok, so i’ve poked a bottle brush into every orifice, and nothing gungy or nasty appeared, and the error still remains.
Anything else i can try before i call out the dreaded engineer – i’m trying hard not to, because i need a new back tyre on my motorbike…

Personally I’d take the tyre and get the Marigolds out……… Bit unlucky really, 9 times out of 10 that will get you going. So, the fill matrix needs investigating properly, so it is engineer time,

Check Repairs@ or Directories for a UKW engineer in your area.

hi, there’s no engineer in my area from repairs@ukw, and the service number on my manual has an unobtainable number.
My local repair people won’t help because the error e2 is not known to them, and the manual says it’s not used on this appliance (!)

Does anyone have the number for diplomat after sales service, i’ve been ringing the mfi customer service number solidly for the last half hour with no repsonse!
