My dishwasher started to make a grinding noise then leak from the bottom a slow drip. Then stopped making as it made a bleeping noise so i switched it off at the mains, When i switched it back on the display pannel is dead. The fuse is ok. The machine is dead any ideas where to start looking, ive taken the front pannel off and can’t even see where it was leaking.

    Thanks in advance

This is a SMEG-built machine, so a good quality appliance. Grinding noise will almost certainly be related to the circulation pump. The impellors occasionally sheer off, leading to noise and leaks.

The display beimg dead is more worrying – it is possible that the leak has shorted internally and knocked out the computer.

This is a technically complex appliance – pro help may well be your best option. Click the link below for a local UKW engineer.

Power off, if you plan to investigate further.
