ParticipantThis model is from Howdens and is 18 months old and maddeningly out of warranty:
Main issues:
1. Cycle runs about 3/4 of the way through then we get constant beeping and a 4-flash error code, however the machine is draining fully.
2. Other times, the machine only makes it into the cold pre-rinse cycle and starts the same error beeping about 5 minutes into the wash. Both times, the left-most programme light is on (the pre rinse light?) and the far right light is flashing.
3. The little detergent tablet door never opens so we have to put the tablet in the cutlery basket
4. About one in 15 times it washes right through with no error codes.
Please help!

Hi,
It would appear that you have some sort of error on the drain. That could be due to poor drainage, a faulty or blocked pump or a myriad of other things on the drain circuit and, whilst possible but unlikely, the PCB cold be goosed.
The second error we’d need more details I think to help.
Third issue, your soap dispenser is goosed and needs replaced. A mail to Dave on spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will get you a price etc. but, there is a very remote chance that the PCB being faulty, which could cause the other problems (possibly) could be the cause. However, that is very unlikely I think.
1 in 15 ain’t good odds and I wouldn’t live with it. 😉
To be far this is the Whirlpool based dishwasher and not the Chinese rubbish so it’s probably worth at least having it looked at if you don’t want to investigate further yourself.

Thanks, I can live with the soap dispenser not working if I could get the rest of it working.
So you feel the error code issues could be two separate things then?

Possibly it is two issues but I can’t be sure in all honesty.
I’d try to find something on the drain side wrong and then go from there.

OK, will do. As it’s an integrated unit I’ll do my best to get under it and have a look.

Thunderbird8 wrote:I have temporarily solved this problem by pouring a kettle full of warm water into the machine after opening the door during the second drain (from start the cycle goes drain/fill/wash/drain….then more fills and washes and rinses.)
Basically about 10-15 minutes in the machine will drain its first pre-wash cycle. When it is doing so open the door, pour the water in, and it will go full-cycle and even finish properly.
At least mine does.
Any opinions as to why? Works every time as long as I do this.

Possibly the pressure switch is glogged up, it twist fits onto the sump right hand side or could be siphoning when trying to fill, not enough water in the system, common faults with these especially if MFI or Howdens actually fitted it.
