ParticipantHi, i hope somebody can help me. Yesterday i had to drain out the bottom of the dishwaser as it had filled with water and the float cut out had caused the machine to error. I have had this before and after i have drained out the bottom all has been fine.
However this time i have drained out the bottom tray but when i power the machine on none of the lights come on exept for the power light. If i hold down the program button then turn the power off the program light comes on and then fades. If i hold down the program button before i power the machine on then all of the lights on the panel will come on as soon as i power the machine on but nothing will work.
Has anybody got any ideas? 🙁

Chinese dishwasher – Haier to be exact. Water leak is almost always caused by use of dishwasher tablets, which froth excessively and leak into the undertray of the dishwasher. If you’re going to keep this one going, use powder, rinse aid and salt as separates.
The computer board has almost certainly failed, probably the leak getting somewhere it shouldn’t.
Regret I have no indication of cost, I would contact MFI at the earliest opportunity.

Yip, it’s the dreaded Haier alright. 🙁
Penguin is correct, but sometimes they dry out and live again. 🙄
Sadly when the base floods on these all bets are off as there’s practically no way to fully determine the fault, often it’s a case of replacing what you can see immediately failed to find out what’s fully wrong. Fun eh?
To let you understand, these machines are being used branded as many “makes” and they are beyond terrible. So much so that we now will not accept out of warranty work on them, they’re that bad and prone to multiple failures for a myriad of reasons. They are an old Indesit (Merloni) design which was, IMO terrible to begin with, being badly built using cheap labour in China by Haier.
The only reason I can see that they are so popular is price. But then if you’re offered a free dishwasher with a kitchen or an integrated machine that seems too good to be true on price I can assure you that if it’s one of these then it really is too good to be true. I have some figures that show an absolutely deplorable intervention rate in warranty.
The overfoaming issue is only one of many and, if you use rinse aid with a 3 or 4 or 5 in one tablet then it will overfoam and flood the base. If you open the door during the cycle (the instructions do say not to) it will most likely flood.
One option for detergent is the new Fairy Active Burst tablets, they disolve on contact with water and are a LOT better then solid tablets and should be clear by the time the rinses come around so no overfoam.
Too much information probably but if it doesn’t help in this instance it may help others.
