ParticipantHopefully someone can help us out here, because we just paid £82 for a plumber who “fixed” the problem, but it has come back again!
Originally we noticed the problem when the machine was still spinning for 2 hours after the cycle should have finished (isnt it strange how the dishwasher noise becomes unnoticable in the background until you actually listen for it?)
It was flashing the warning light code for the anti-flooding system being activated (out of the 4 lights on the unit, number 1 was flashing and number 4 was static) but we didnt know what to do about it, so we called a plumber.
The plumber emptied out the black base tray underneath the unit, which had filled with water causing the anti-flooding system to be turned on. But after draining that, he put the dishwasher on for a full cycle and couldnt find anything leaking. He believed that it was possibly an overflow caused by fat blocking the filter and/or drain pipe. So both of those were cleaned and the machine ran another cycle perfectly.
So the plumber left, and at 5.30 this afternoon we put a dishwasher cleaning thing into it (Finish Dishwasher Cleaner), and we noticed something was wrong when it was still spinning (but dry) at 9pm.Now the base tray bit underneath is filled with water again, but still we cannot see anything that has leaked and both the drain pipe and filters are clean so nothing should be overflowing.
First, how does one detatch the base tray underneath the unit so we can drain the water, and second, any suggestions or advice about what may be causing the same issue to occur again when we ran two cycles fine and no leaks could be seen?
Please help, as we dont want to pay another £82 call out charge!

Was the guy a plumber or an appliance engineer? You should be able to ask him back without being charged again after all it’s the same fault and his work should be guarenteed :rolls: at the worst it could be a continuation of labour.

Ask a local appliance engineer (NOT a Plumber !) to come take a look as it sounds like you need the sidetank cleaning/replaced – Dishwasher cleaner won’t clear that.

Well, plumbers charge more than appliance engineers – £65 for a plumber in Leeds, and people pay up. We are seriously undervalued…….

The trouble if we start charging £65 then we will just promote the “chuck out” society, plumbers are onto a winner, when people need one it’s to fix something, they can’t just go out and buy a new plumbing sytem for the house 🙁 -
