Hello, and woohoo for my first post. Can someone please help me with a problem we are having with our ADP8902 integrated dishwasher?

It has had an on/off problem with not draining correctly, which culminated in the thing leaking over the kitchen floor last night (ho hum). Sometimes when we used it it would shut off mid-cycle and the 2nd and 3rd ligths would be flashing, but later on it would work properly.

Well, after making sure the drain hoses weren’t kinked or blocked, and also rectifying the dumb drain arrangement that the guy who had the house previously had set up, it seems to drain alright now (i tried switching the machine on while holding the drain pipe in a bucket, but was too slow getting the pipe in the bucket and shot a jet of water across half the kitchen). So I know the drain pump is working.

Now, however, I have another problem. When i turn the machine on to any of the cycles, it all starts making the right noises, then bleeps, still makes all the noises, but doesn’t seem to fill. Eventually, if you open the door, the 5th light is on constantly and the 1st light is flashing. Do either of the error codes mean anything to anyone??

Thanks in advance for your help.

The latter is error E1 which means the base has flooded from the leak no doubt. The previous faul was a time out on drain error which you’ve probably solved by the sound of it 🙂

Thanks very much for your help with that. Is it possible to resolve the E1 error code, and if so how? Is it a pro job or can I do it myself?

    Thanks again.

To resolve it the base needs to be emptied assuming there isn’t a leak elswhere causing it.

It would need to be pulled from the housing and tilted allowing the water to run out (get the towels handy ;))

If you do need an engineer, check the repairs@ link below 🙂

After a bout of illness that has had me laid up all week, I have drained the bottom of the dishwasher out, and dried it thoroughly with my wife’s hairdrier (she was really chuffed by that).

It is now kinda working inasmuch as it is filling and pumping water out, but am still getting the error code of the 1st light flashing with the 5th light constantly lit, and also, a couple of times I’ve had lights 4 and 5 both flashing on their own.

So not solved yet, methinks. Any more suggestions?

    Thanks again.

and further to the above message, was just reviewing the earlier advice and though, i’ll just check.

and lo and behold, the base has filled with water again, so we have a leak from somewhere. any suggestions where to check first, and how do i get to the underneath (at the moment, i have just pulled off the plastic cover at the front and can see in that way)

    ta!

Have you run it since you drained the undertray? If not, it’s probably just the fill hose weeping. If you have run the machine obviously there is a more serious problem.

Split, disconnected hoses; problems with the water level control system; leaking circulation pump are all possibilities. It’s a technically complex machine and access is extremely awkward, so if you can’t spot anything obvious I would seriously consider getting pro help.

The undertray is usually retained by 4 screws, power off if you wish to investigate further.

okey dokey, thanks for all your advice so far. here goes some more info:

(i hope that my descriptive writing is up to scratch)

Firstly, I turned off and unplugged the machine (just put that in so you know that I do heed your advice)

I pulled the machine out again and drained the plastic tray underneath so it was ll dry and as it should be.

Then, I removed the side panel so I could have a better view of what was going on and to see if I could see where the water was leaking from to fill the plastic tray.
Turned the machine on, and it did the normal stuff for a while, and then it happened! The water in the tray is coming out from around the door. Each corner of the door is leaking into the little gutter that is underneath it, which then fills the plastic tray via a little rubber pipe (probably to stop it just dumping the water all over your floor??).

So (here go the questions again):

Should the machine fill internally to such a level as the door seal becomes compromised, or is this normal and the door seal is just wrecked (it does look okay to me)?

Is this pointing to a problem with the machine either not draining properly, or overfilling?

Boo hoo. It’s starting to get on my pip now, but as I like to think of myself as a reasonbly intelligent human being, I shall not be beaten by a lump of metal and plastic.

    Thanks for your assistance.

Definite overfill problem. The water level is controlled by air pressure from an air bell to a diaphragm switch, so find the skinny air hoses and find the leak or blockage.

Power off before sticking fingers in…..
