    Hi guys,

When we bought our present house it came with a new MFI kitchen and Diplomat ADP 3101 built in oven. That was 3 years ago and since then I’ve had to replace the oven’s fan element twice. It’s apparently not unusual for these elements to last less than 12 months, but that’s by the by.

Last week, we noticed that the grill was not working and I put this down to the grill element having gone, but I never got round to doing anything about it. Then, a couple of days ago, my wife was cooking some meat in the oven and took it out after the appropriate length of time only to find it barely warm. The oven itself was only ‘warm’ and nowhere near hot enough.

Am I right in thinking that the grill element doubles as an oven element and the fact that it has blown explains why the oven itself does not get as hot as it should?

If that is the case, are these grill elements readily available?

A quick look at the setup suggests that the whole oven will have to be removed and the element fitted from the rear. Does that sound right?

Any advise would be much appreciated.

    Cheers

    This might be of interest:
    http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … ge&pid=103

Your oven has only the two elements – a single grill and a fan oven element. Heat for the oven is only supplied by the fan oven element.

Fan oven element is p/no 76X3719.
    Grill element is p/no 79X9610.

Sounds like you need both……. You can get them easily and quickly through the spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk facility on the site.

Power off if investigating or fitting.

No, when on fan mode it only uses the fan element.

If it’s multi-function (sorry I don’t have the tech here at home) then normally the outer zone of the grill element is used as the upper oven element when the oven used as a static oven.

More info from this article 😉

Many thanks for your swift replies chaps!! Excellent, informative article by Ken too. In fact I went on to find a number of other interseting and useful pages as well. It may well explain why these elements I’ve been fitting failed after what I consider to be a relatively short time.

Right, back to my problematic oven, it sounds as though you agree with my original thoughts that the grill element is the problem here, and since I already know that it has failed, I may as well start by replacing that.

Would you happen to know whether I’m right in thinking that I’ll have to take out the oven in order to fit the element from the rear?

    Cheers

Correct, oven must be removed from housing. Stay safe, power off before removing any panel.
