ParticipantHi,
Was wondering if anyone could help. As per the title have a;
DIPLOMAT ADP5330
Serial No. 3P0094A01671In the last 2-3 weeks the fan (I guess) has got progressively louder and louder until it is now so loud you can’t hold a conversation in the kitchen without shouting over it.
The oven still heats up fine, still cools down fine.
The fan noise starts a minute or so after turning the oven on and continues after the oven has been turned off (assume it is also used for cooling). When the oven is cool enough the noise stops and we all breathe a sigh of relief.
It is a very loud rattling noise.
Have searched the forum for a day but found no answers;
– Is this a fault anyone has seen before?
– Could it just be something touching the fan or is it more commonly a bearing?
– Can I fix this myself (I am not afraid of a screwdriver) ?
– I haven’t had a poke around yet because this is a dual fuel model and I don’t go anywhere near gas. However if I can poke around without moving it would like to try to fix it as cash is tight. Thanks in advance for any help

If it’s a fan which runs on after switching off, it will be the cooling fan at fault. This mounted on top of the oven, under the gas rails etc……..
You really should get a CORGI engineer to it, I’m afraid.

OK cheers
if the fan runs during cooking and carries on after cooking is it still the cooling fan?
does a cooling fan run during cooking? or does this model have just the one fan?

Two fans – circulation fan in the oven, which should shut off when the oven is turned off at the thermostat. The cooling fan is controlled by it’s own thermostat and will run on until the the thermostat cools and breaks the circuit. This can be some time after you have finished cooking.

Hi,
Back for more!!
Got a repair company to come and look at the oven. He said it was the cooling fan and the oven could still be used while he got a replacement cooling fan.
A few days later the noise stopped and the oven started getting really hot to touch so told the wife to stop using it altogether as we have a young baby running around.
This was 28 days ago and the repair company have told me 3 times that the part will be available in a couple of days.
Now if they had said up front, this will take 30 days to get the part I could have least been prepared.
Having stupidly paid in advance for the service I am loathed to go elsewhere and the actual engineer did give the impression he was professional.
Can anyone help me source a part. The company are saying it’s a Hygena part on a Diplomat branded Oven but they won’t tell me the part number so I can try and source it elsewhere and speed the process up.
Wife is kicking me as trying to provide 3 meals a day for 2 young kids without an oven is a pain in the rear.
Any help much appreciated.

if I was rolling in it and not 16 stone already it would be great.
Just to check – so this part is the motor. I don’t need the fan unit aswell do I?
PS. Brilliant that you have these.

actually guys don’t worry.
Having phoned the repair firm who have been waiting 31 days for the part from their source I finally managed to get the part number from them and it was the same part number as you specified.
What a fantastic website this is.
Usual caveats from the repair guys apart parts differences, etc but they are the same part numbers they gave me aswell (also got the door seal).
Oh and lastly you were £65 cheaper than the repair firm were trying to charge me.
Thanks for your help. Would recommed you to anyone (assuming the bits turn up of course 😆 )

noisey cooling fan don,t allways mean its the fan but {e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} is high, to see if its cleared it self or if its seized run oven for 10 mins tunn oven of if u hear blowing nosie its cleared its self if u hear nothing fan motor has seized ie new fan motor.
noise can be from
1) vibrating back panel on oven
2) insulaton iie tinfoil looking stuff come abit losse and rubbing fan or crap loads of gunf on fan blade or fan housing is not tighten up
cooling fan is run by a stat and will carry on after u turned oven of untill the thermal stat has cooled down.April 16, 2008 at 8:44 am #244382only1salty

Final Update
So the part turned up within 2 days from your shop. All of them even the ones that said 7 day lead time (the seals).
The firm that tried to charge me double the price for the parts turned up and fitted the parts you supplied.
However they turned up with their own parts aswell :rolls:
So after 6 weeks of chasing them because they couldn’t get the parts they turn up with their own. So in no uncertain terms the engineer was asked to fit the parts you supplied and take his own away and do what he wanted with them.
All parts were correct and the oven has returned to a state better than ever. It must have been slowly on the way out for a couple of years (from when we moved in) because I never remember it that quiet.
Anyway, all working and all good.
Thanks to everyone on here and will recommend this site to anyone I talk to who has appliance problems in the future.
Cheers 😀
