I have a diplomat dishwasher and the manual, I’m not sure which model number it is, as the manual displays all three (I know its very old).
I wanted to know if the door is supposed to have some sort of cable in it to stop it from slamming down? When you open the door, nothing holds it up, there’s no tension at all. It would just crash open, does anyone know what i mean by that?? Most dishwasher doors would have a soft opening door, instead of heavy. I hope this makes sense!!! I’m hoping that something has broken within the door that would normally stop it from falling when its not shut. Somebody please help. I have tried searching for the model and help on Google but can’t find anything.
    Thanks.

    Hi

Within the door hinges are some tension straps to smooth out the door opening and closing movement. It sounds like these have probably failed.

It is a good idea to change the hinges, runners and straps at the same time as very little additional work is required to do this than do just one section of them.

Thankfully these come as a set and also includes the lower main door seal.

If you use the shop@ facility within this web site, you can see the parts being sold as a kit. Carefully inspect the inner hinges and straps, with the appliance disconnected from the mains supply for your own safety. If any part of the hinges or straps are broken, then this kit will be needed to rectify the problem. If you are unsure about any aspect, seek professional advice and use the repairs@ facility within this website to source a reliable and reputable engineer to sort it for you.

The parts needed, I suspect are part number 32X0611 available from this web site.

    Good luck!
