Hi, I’d be grateful if anyone could help.

I have a Diplomat ADP8112 – I am unable to set the programme – the light is flashing but when I press the button to change the programme nothing happens it just keeps flashing and occassionally beeps. Also I cannot get the door to close – it is closing fully but the “lock” does not catch.

Do these two problems go together or is it just coincidence that they have happened together? And does anyone know how I can fix it?

    Many thanks

    Louise

This one is made by Smeg so….

A quick search on here for ‘Smeg AND reset’ will tell you how to reset…as long as the pcb hasn’t let go. 😕

The door will probably need a new facia, and possibly the door catch too if it’s worn (the facias break allowing the catch to drop inside)

The parts are surprisingly cheap for Smeg…the facia is around 20 quid IIRC

Hi Kwatt – it is the programme light that is flashing as it usually does when the cycle is finished, normally you press the button to change and set the cycle but nothing happens when I press it.

Hi Clivejameson – thanks for the advice, however what do you mean by the fascia – it is an integrated unit and all the controls are on the top inside the door which can only be accessed when the door is open – is it the whole panel at the top where all the buttons etc are? How easy is it to replace this and does that include the catch?

    Many thanks

Yes that’s the fella…black plastic runs the width of the door at the top behind your cabinet door…and no, the catch is a separate part 😉

The good news is these parts aren’t as expensive as you might imagine…email to Shop@ with model and serial should get you the details if you find you need them. (do investigate first)

As far as fitting them goes we cannot give specific advice, but you will need the correct size Torx screwdriver and a little patience…not a difficult job but be careful of some very sharp door edges.

Plug out at all times if having a go yourself. :zap:

Hi there, many thanks for your advice. Now I am on holiday for Christmas I have eventually got round to doing something about fixing the machine – my daughters have been doing a great job but getting fed up washing dishes!!

I have tried to reset but it didn’t make any difference so I guess it’s the pcb, and I also need the door catch. Can you tell me where I can get the parts and do I need part numbers etc?

    Many thanks.

Just a thought – the door latch isn’t in the closed position is it? The computer cannot be programmed or reset in any way if the latch is in the closed position.

Failing that, the latch assembly is 697690139 and the pcb is 816290672. An email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk for prices and ordering.
